Our school is situated in Laren. We are going to tell something about Laren. In Laren there is a museum called the Singer. In that museum there are paintings and there are sculptures from artists, sometimes there are dance acts and musicals. In a part from Laren you can shop. There are different kind of shops like shops for clothing, shoes, sport, beauty shop and hairdressers. In the centre of Laren is a lake with a fountain in it. That lake was dug out by hand. In the old days, in this lake the sheeps from the farmers were washed after they came back from the fields.  Cities in Het Gooi There are many cities in Het Gooi: Huizen, Bussum, Hilversum, Laren and Naarden.  Hilversum Hilversum is known for its media. Our nationale radio and television are broadcasted from here. Naarden Naarden has got an old fortress. The City Hall is from 1601 and is a beautiful example of the Dutch Renaissance. Very characteristic of this building is the double stepgable. Bussum Bussum has long been an insignificant village in Het Gooi, but is very old: it was mentioned for the first time in 1306. Nowadays some 40.000 people live here. Huizen Huizen is a village in Het Gooi and is known for its ancient village. There are many shops. Nice place for shopping or hanging around. The village Huizen is known as a former fishing village, although only at the end of the 17th century fishing one of the hoofdmiddelen of life. In Laren you find our school College De Brink. It is a nice place with icecream shops and snack shops. The singer museum is a large museum of arts. |
