Pole Jump
When you want to cross a ditch and there is no bridge, then you can jump over the ditch with a pole.
Some people made a real sport out of I, which attracts many spectators.


Football
Football is very popular in our country. More then one million people play football every week. There’s even a professional football league for ladies.
Dutch football players play all over Europe in famous football teams.
The colour of our national team is orange.

Horse riding
Riding on a horse a very popular too.
The Dutch are very good at it: jumping with horses across fences and dressage (Olympic champion Ankie van Grunsven).
There are not many horse races, simply because that’s not very popular.

Speed Skating
In the old days, when the winters were cold, people loved to go skating on the frozen canals and lakes. Nowadays that’s impossible.
For that reason more and more indoor skating tracks are built in The Netherlands. When there’s a tournament, there are many people who come and watch the competitions.

In the province of Friesland was the tradition of the 200 kms long Eleven Cities Tour. The last it was held, 16000 people made this tour.
Kaatsen

Also a traditional sport in Friesland. Teams of three players compete each other. A small ball is hit with one hand, with a glove on.
In England this sport was transformed into tennis.
The size of the field is 61x32 meters.
